ACCESSING THE FULLNESS OF GOD’S GLORY
For All It’s Worth
16 I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, 17 and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. 18 I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:16-21)
Reread the passage above. Isn’t it great to see the truth emerge before your very eyes? Accept Paul’s prayer for you today, to receive the riches of Christ’s glory, to be strengthened, and to have Christ dwell in you. Paul also asks for the ability to comprehend fully. Do you agree that you can know everything there is to know about the latest item but never get to use or even touch it? In the same manner, you could not know much about the phone you have or the functions it likely has, but you use it regardless. Similarly, it is possible to know a great lot about the Bible, its doctrines, interpretations, promises, warnings, and so on, and yet not live by its truths.
Head Knowledge vs. Changed Lives
It is possible to be aware of God’s glory but not experience it in your life. It’s also possible to enjoy God’s glory without realizing how fortunate you are. Either one or both are powerless. It is critical to be aware of and experience the fullness of God. Paul prayed for believers to have the ability to comprehend as well as experience his power at work inside us. “The first prayer is for believers to recognize their own strength; the second is for them to put it to use.”
In Ephesians 3, the term “glory” represents the idea of reflecting the essence of one’s existence, the synthesis of all one’s traits. The riches of God’s splendor are the riches of His basic nature. The representation of “unlimited resources” accurately depicts His richness, while we can’t quite wrap our finite brains around what infinite genuinely means.
