ALL OR NOTHING

ALL OR NOTHING
ALL OR NOTHING
All or nothing, the widow responded with everything she had, and it brought food for her and her family during the years of famine. Knowing that he is a man of God, it must have been hard for Elijah to say “Feed me first” in the face of such dire need (1 Kings 17:13). However, this demand was backed up by a promise from the Lord, the God of Israel: he was being God’s mouthpiece, as He says: “Put me first and see my power. Believe my word and it will be the power that will bring you salvation and deliverance.” Elijah was firm because he knew that it was not the time to dilly-dally or to sugarcoat the situation.
The widow really did not have a choice. It was all or nothing for her. She could not share her provision. She just did not have enough. She made the choice to give the prophet everything she had, and God rewarded her choice.
