The wonderful thing about the prophetic practice is that at its basic level, a new Christian can hear from God and communicate what he is saying. However, for those who desire to grow in the gift of prophecy, specifically those God specifically called to prophetic ministry as a primary focus, there are powerful reasons for investing in the growth of our prophetic anointing.You may be asking, “Why do you need to develop your prophetic gift if these gifts are supposed to be received by grace and by faith in the Lord?” Here are significant points you must consider.

God calls us to be stewards of our gifts.With every gift, there is a responsibility. God chose you to be the steward of your gift. God chose you specifically for this ministry; it’s personal. Growing in the spiritual gifts God has blessed you with is not just a good idea; it’s a command. Read Paul’s exhortation below.

14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.

 15 Put these things into practice, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress. (1 Timothy 4:14-15)

Paul exhorts Timothy in the passage above to be diligent in progressing in the gift and calling. We must then be intentional about being good stewards when it comes to our own gifts and calling.
