There are some people who believe that because the Bible is complete and that it is the only infallible Word of God, that the gift of prophecy and the prophetic movement today does not authentically exist. This argument makes it sound as if God wrote a book of revelations then He went mute after. God did not just give us the Bible and leave us to it.

God is a Heavenly Father who wants a personal relationship with you, and so prophets still exist today to deliver His personal message. The Bible is a Book of Life, which He gave to guide us throughout our lives. It is alive because it is always applicable to every area of your life. Moreover, God wants to take you into a journey of faith. In this journey, you experience being a part of a church community that does not only encourage you and imparts spiritual gifts with you, but also confirms the Holy Spirit’s revelation upon your life.

God speaks personally to us today, both on the inside, through personal revelations such as dreams, visions, impressions, and the like, and also through different levels of prophecy. However, the only proof that God is saying something through the prophet is through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit with time. Nevertheless, people still reject the necessity and authenticity of the Bible, but we refer to what St. Thomas Aquinas said, “For those who have faith, no explanation is necessary. For those without faith, no explanation is sufficient.”

For those who have faith, Scripture is considered as the highest level of prophecy, but they also recognize the Spirit of God moving and communicating with us even in the 21st century. The Bible declared itself to be the Word of God that is a surer word of prophecy (2 Pt. 1:19-21). Prophecy does not come by the will of man, but the will of God. If humans invented a prophetic word, then it would fall under the weight of the Bible. The Bible is the standard by which everything else is measured because it is written by the Holy Spirit.
