East Wind
Notice that when Moses built the tabernacle, the door of the tabernacle faced the east? What does the east represent? Every time the Bible mentions the east wind, the Bible is speaking in the context of judgment. According to God’s instruction, the Temple in Jerusalem, which replaced the Tabernacle in the wilderness must also face east toward the Mount of Olives, which served as “ground zero” for Christ’ return.
Moses, Aaron and Aaron’s sons had to camp
to the east of the holy tent. They had to camp
toward the sunrise in front of the tent of meeting.
They were responsible for taking care of the sacred
tent. They had to do it for the Israelites.
Anyone else who approached the tent would be
put to death. (Numbers 3:38, emphasis added)
The priests left the Holy Room. All the priests who
were there had set themselves apart to the Lord.
It didn’t matter what group they were in. All the
Levites who played music stood near the east
side of the altar. They included Asaph, Heman,
Jeduthun and their sons and relatives. They were
dressed in fine linen. They were playing cymbals,
harps and lyres. They were joined by 120 priests
who were blowing trumpets. (2 Chronicles 5:11-
12, emphasis added)
The east wind is mentioned in Genesis 41 in the Pharaoh’s dream. The east wind was going to bring up destruction. It was the east wind that brought in judgment, in the form of famine. The east wind is the wind of judgment.
The east wind is the spirit of counsel and might. The same spirit of counsel and might was the same anointing that Jesus had when he set out to destroy the works of the devil. In Mark 6, people were wondering where Jesus was able to get the power to do his might works. In 1 Jn. 3:8, the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. The spirit of counsel and might pulls down strongholds and it paves the way for the Lord. In Mt. 24:27, there was also the prophetic word, “Lightning that comes from the east can be seen in the west. It will be the same when the Son of Man comes” (emphasis added).
