Keep Open Communication and Avenues for Engagement
Creating open communication is one thing, but making sure there is engagement within the group is another thing. This is what sustains the relationship. The best way for this is to do away with segmentation within the church. Let the old ones mingle with the young ones. Engage them in activities in which both ends will be able to meet halfway. It may be a rotational task during service, or teamwork for social gatherings.
Capitalize on diversity—know the strengths of each and every one and group them according to how you see them function effectively.
Organize your working committees in a manner wherein both the tenured and young members of your group will be able to effectively contribute. Capitalize on diversity—know the strengths of each and every one and group them according to how you see them function effectively. Such activities build rapport between the generations, thus strengthening the relationship of the group and creating an organic bond between the members. This will increase the open communication and engagement. Prior to that, there might be a need to spearhead a coaching session for both groups separately. The coaching would ultimately prepare them on how to deal with each other. Guide them so that they`ll know how to treat each other respectfully.
