MARKETING AND BRANDING
Marketing and branding both play a significant role in the growth and success of a brand. There is a distinct distinction between the two. Branding expresses the essential truth about your product, whereas marketing promotes that characteristic. They collaborate in the sale of a product.
“Branding is strategic,” writes James Heaton in his article The Difference Between Marketing and Branding. “Marketing is a tactical endeavor.”
For example, if you’re trying to sell a healthy snack for kids, don’t confuse your audience by including teenagers, adults, and the elderly in your advertisements. Similarly, when branding yourself, always keep your focus in mind. Don’t try to say too much at once.
Just remember to keep your eyes on the prize. Do it efficiently and go for it when you have time to do something extra. Make sure your “brand” is consistent, positive, and trustworthy. Another thing is to market yourself. If you decide to sell your skills, ensure they are compatible with your brand.
Rebranding Offers Hope
Some products do not “click” when they are introduced to the market. Rebranding is the process of persuading people to change their minds about something. Similarly, there is still hope for you. Some people see college or moving to a new state as the ideal time to change people’s perceptions and begin again. When you’re in a new place, you can be whoever you want and convince people of whatever you want them to believe.
Remember that this isn’t something you can only do when you physically move somewhere. Never allow other people’s perceptions of you to define who you are. You can influence them in the same way that they can affect you. It all comes down to who allows one to overpower the other.
If you decide to change your branding and personality because you discovered a major flaw, don’t let anything or anyone stop you. No amount of criticism should ever prevent you from becoming a better person and rebranding yourself as a new and improved version of yourself.
Activity
Selecting and collecting symbols you associate with yourself is an excellent way to practice branding yourself. This activity is designed to help you stay more focused and connected to the brand you want to be known for.
Step 1: Gather your materials, including one illustration board, a marker, a pair of scissors, glue, and at least ten stacks of magazines. The more magazines there are, the better. To make your project more visually appealing, you can also prepare scrapbooking materials, such as ribbons and colored paper.
Step 2 is to create what is known as a vision board. Look through your magazines for images that inspire you and represent the brand you see yourself evoking.
Step 3: Arrange these images on the illustration board to create an inspirational collage. Make sure to choose images that you are enthusiastic about.
Step 4: Once you’ve finished decorating and embellishing your board, hang it somewhere prominent in your room. This way, you’ll be constantly reminded of what you want to accomplish, how you plan to accomplish it, and who you want to be. It is an excellent way to stay on track and focused on your life goals.
