SOLOMON: WORDS OF WISDOM
Solomon offers sound words of wisdom in The Book of Ecclesiastes. The money vigilant person needs sound financial advice. Such guidance will help them see the value of spending part of their money on making themselves happy. Solomon wrote: “No one has power over the spirit… and no one has power in the day of death” (Ecc. 8:8). For this reason, he encourages people to enjoy life and work hard. He says:
“Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has already accepted your works… Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which God has given you under the sun… Whatever your hands find to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.” (Ecclesiastes 9:7-10)
Reflection
Can you relate with Solomon’s conclusion, “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity”? Does this statement discourage you from working hard to make money? Should this statement prevent you from working hard to make money?
