Happy 2023!
Start the new year by planting a new seed. When you sow into good ground, you reap a harvest. The parable of the sower illustrates the attitudes that prevent you from reaping the blessings you deserve. A sower scatters his seeds on various types of ground namely: hard environment, which prevents the source from ever sprouting; stone ground, which allows the roots to grow but, due to its lack of depth, the plants soon wither under the heat of the sun; complex environment, which also allows the seeds to grow but chokes the plants to death; and finally, good fertile ground, which receives the source and nurtures it until it bears fruit.
The story depicts various reactions to God’s word – the gospel. Not everyone who hears God’s word does something good with it:
18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
Always try to land on good ground. Accept God’s word, and you’ll be able to increase your blessings. You will undoubtedly reap the benefits of absorbing God’s wisdom and applying it to your daily activities.
You must find good soil if you want to create a flourishing farm. To benefit from God’s blessings, you must first acknowledge God.
