The Dynamics of Unbelief
Unbelief may sound passive. However, unbelief is actually a position involving just as much faith as belief. Unbelief is as strongly committed to its view of the world as belief is. The only thing is, the Israelites were believing that God is not as good as Moses, Joshua, and Caleb were professing Him to be. They believe a different thing about God. They held on to this belief, and it led to disobedience. Thus, the Israelite’s unbelief is the strong faith that, for all practical purposes, God does not exist, God does not care, God is not involved actively in my life. Do you see where your money troubles come in when it comes to believing God for provision and blessings?
Bringing in our târumah shows what we truly believe in. If we believed intensely in God’s existence, power, and good purpose for us, then studying His laws and obeying them would become so natural and easy that our lives would be transformed from the inside out.
