THE PURPOSE OF A RICH & GENEROUS GOD
Why Would God Bless Us?
We know God is wealthy. We believe in God’s generosity. However, it is also critical to identify His motives so that His actions are not misinterpreted as an indication of the Lord’s limitation and stinginess.
God’s plan is revealed in Romans 8:29: “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” God intends believers to be God’s sons, like Jesus. People have many callings, abilities, and skills. God’s intention is not to strip us of our identities and peculiarities.
Carrying Out the Work of Jesus
God, on the other hand, desires that everyone have the nature, purpose, and character of Jesus. God wants that we carry out the works of Jesus (Jn. 14:12). Since the Fall of Man, God has organized everything to deliver humans from Satan’s tyranny, and He has given His all.
God sent Jesus to us. Notice, He did not dispatch an angel or a prophet. Instead, He posted Jesus Christ. If we are to resemble God, as Paul instructs us in Ephesians 5:1, we must also give our utmost effort. What should we offer God?
We should do everything we can to further God’s purposes. Our own will or ability can create nothing. All we can do is be willing and obedient wherever God leads us. God provides everything else in His abundance and generosity.
What is the ultimate goal of God? His goal is for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as in heaven. How exactly will this happen? What exactly will our role be? God only reveals in bits and pieces. His goal is always to see the big picture.
