It’s all about Jesus. The prophetic word’s purpose is to glorify God. A prophetic word will bless and benefit you, for sure, but it’s not about you. The moment you find interpretation for a prophetic word that is self-centered, then you are bound to miss the point completely. You automatically misinterpret it.
Interpret the Word according to who the Word is for. If you are tempted to focus on the more mysterious, futuristic parts of biblical prophecy, focus on the core message that must always be centered in the Kingdom of God or the work of redemption through Christ. Most of the time, people focus on “what’s in it for me” or “what does God promise to do for me,” when they are receiving a prophetic word. This mindset can limit you. It can box the blessing into what you need or want at that given point in time. However, when you are focused on God’s glory, then this is where you can push boundaries. Looking for God’s glory in the prophetic word and its interpretation allows you to experience breakthroughs.
