And, some are asking for help while in the midst of contemplating suicide. Studies have shown that approximately 35% of adults with major depressive episodes do not receive treatment.
Suicidal impulses may be intense but short-lived. The majority of people who are suicidal, even for extended periods, recover and can really benefit from treatment, if they get the help that they needed. It affects others that lie closely with the host.
Suicidal tendencies may be fleeting and can be very passive or active, depending on the person. Preparing for death, such as giving away possessions, extending their farewells, acquiring a gun, imposes a great concern. Also, a sudden lift in spirits in a depressed person is alarming, as it the plan to kill themselves are high.

A recent study shows that asking someone about suicide will not put the idea on their head. In fact, people often reported feeling relieved from their suicidal thoughts when asked about it. Opening up the conversation on their depression and the possibility of suicide can tear away from their loneliness and can open a pathway for obtaining the help that they need.
