There are a few steps that we can take to help in preventing and lessening the increase of the suicide rates from mental illnesses. One way is to identify and support people at risk and as well as to break away from the stigma. Change starts within an individual, in homes, in families and this creates an endless ripple of influence to others. It is important to create a protective, understanding and caring environment for each and every one.

Connecting those with concerns with communities that offer programs and events may increase a wide sense of belongingness as well as widespread awareness and preventive measures among communities would greatly contribute in decreasing the rates of suicide.
It is not just communities that should help in the widespread prevention, the government also has a key role in as they could expand options for assistance for those who are struggling to make ends meet. The government should also do their part in understanding and tracking the problem source, developing and implementing a wide variety of prevention strategies and supporting local, state, tribal, national, and worldwide partners in the prevention and awareness of suicide and mental illness.
Our current health care systems should also do their part in providing high-quality and continuous care which is more patient-focused. They can also make sure to offer a wide range of effective, affordable, and accessible mental and physical healthcare.
It may be hard at first to address mental health issues. But, never opt out of the option to reach out to others. Avoid bottling up your emotions and always keep an open mind and heart to those who want to help. Always understand where a person is coming from and create a safe environment for each and every one.
