Eradicating prejudice should be a goal throughout the globe. In world history, some incidences are painful to describe and remember. One major incident is the holocaust which happened between 1941 and 1945. Whatever started as an idea slowly became a reality in a nation struggling to stay on its feet economically. The Nazi leadership created the notion that Jews were a threat to the growth of the country. These Jews lost their jobs; their businesses were destroyed and closed, and oppressors took them to concentration camps, where they were tortured and killed. An estimated six million Jews lost their lives. Prejudice develops once people are convinced that their neighbors are a threat. The fear of losing their wealth, livelihoods, and families creates a tense atmosphere that can erupt into war and death.

In dealing with mindsets, we must consider others as fellow humans. Scripture encourages us to consider others better than ourselves (Phil. 2:3).

God, in His word, has provided for us the path to overcoming racism and prejudice. The Jews of the early church had a problem with Gentiles converting to the faith. There was segregation even among believers, as Jews sat together, alienating the Gentiles. Even Peter was guilty of acting differently towards Paul when in the presence of fellow Jews. God worked to bring unity among all believers, whether Jews or Gentiles.

On the part of the Blacks, the victim mentality can hinder progress and viable growth. Without working hard, some opportunities will pass by. Any person who continues to blame the system and other people must also take time and look at themselves. At times, attitude will affect our worldview to the point of shifting blame to innocent parties.

As a member of the body of Christ, what role are you playing in fighting prejudice?

God’s love has no room for discrimination of any sort. Are you letting love lead?

The best way for Blacks to prevail against White Supremacy is to work hard and not succumb to a victim mentality. Do you agree?

Examine yourself to see if there are prejudices you have towards certain people. Trace the root of these prejudices and find ways you can address them

How can prejudice be defeated? Do you think it’s impossible to eradicate discrimination? Give your reason.
