POVERTY IS A SIN
Business, more than any other occupation, is a continual dealing with the future; it is a continual calculation, an instinctive exercise in foresight.
– Henry R. Luce
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalm 23:1-6
You must be thinking, “Wait, if poverty is a sin and I am poor, then am I in sin?” To tell you honestly, yes, coming from a place of love and concern. You are in sin. The purpose of this blog series is for you to experience a breakthrough from this sin and to experience victory over it.
Poverty is a form of hell that man’s blindness has caused to God’s unlimited good for him (Ponder, 1962). Moreover, poverty is not from God. He does not want you living an uncomfortable and degrading life. Poverty poisons people’s minds, and it creates in them thieves and murderers. Do you think God intended for you to be in poverty? This is not what my Bible is telling me.
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (Jeremiah 29:11-12)
God wants you to prosper.
God’s plan for us was to prosper us. Poverty is the opposite of prosperity, isn’t it? Why must we accept a condition, not in line with God’s purposes for us? You need not be poor.
Poverty is a vice (Ponder, 1962). If you live in lack, you live in this vice. However, it would be best if you experienced freedom from this. You can do this by opening your eyes to God’s design for your life.
You were destined for prosperity. Moreover, the Bible’s promises reflect that you were supposed to be rich because you are a child of God. It would be best if you were well-supplied and living in abundance.
You do not want to be prosperous because you are greedy or love money. Nevertheless, do not let the Enemy twist the plan of God for your life. You are prosperous because you want to be right where you should be. Thus, you must claim your heritage as the child of God. Be in the center of God’s plans.
The poor have a mindset of poverty. It is about having the Hunter mindset regarding how we perceive wealth.
