Build Your Family Altar
Prophets recognize the value of altars. In the Bible, altars were hotspots where patriarchs and men of God marked special visitations from angels and from Yahweh. During times of distress and need, they returned to the original place of visitation and presented offerings to God, requesting His intervention. Patriarchs go to their altars not because God’s presence is limited in a certain location, but to remember the reason for their faith. As humans, we can only remember so much, and we tend to disregard how God has been faithful to u, until the point where we are pushed to the corner again.
In our homes, we should have a specific place set apart where we meet intimately with the Lord. This spot is where we remember God’s goodness and faithfulness in our lives. God’s presence is not limited there, but it is in these spots where we are most reminded of what we’ve been through with the Lord.
In his new book Altars, Archbishop E. Bernard Jordan takes you through the the value and purpose of altar-building. Exclusive to Book of the Month Club members, we want to invite you to sign up and join the club now!
