Jesus said, “If two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19).

This passage is applicable to an empowering conversation, which can only take place when two people engage in a “conversation for possibility”. When Jesus speaks with people, he displays the power of a conversation in creating new futures.

While there are empowering conversations, there are also disempowering ones and they can shut the doors of possibility. We are usually not even aware of the disempowering conversations we initiate or sustain in our day-to-day lives. Looking into them deeply, we will realize that they have played a powerful force in keeping us stuck and dissatisfied with our life.

The children of Israel complained. This language pattern shows a far more fatal disease — unbelief — a lack of faith that God knew what He was doing.
