The Fear of the Lord: The Foundation of Knowledge

According to the wisdom of King Solomon, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Prov. 1:7). In other words, without the fear of the Lord, our understanding is incomplete. The psalmist further emphasizes this truth, stating that the fear of the Lord is the starting point of wisdom and brings a deep comprehension of His commandments (Psalm 111:10).

Learning to Fear the Lord

In Psalm 34, David urges us to learn to fear the Lord. This implies that a healthy fear of God can be cultivated and developed. It encompasses not only a reverence for His majesty, but also a recognition of the consequences of disobedience. During times of temptation or trial, we may lose sight of the reasons for obeying God. In such moments, remembering that sin has consequences can guide us back to the right path (Exo. 20:20).

Fear of the Lord vs. Fear in the World

Many people, including believers, live in hidden fear in this unprecedented time in history. The prevalence of violence and hatred is deeply disturbing. Fear and anxiety have become significant obstacles to experiencing the glory of God. People fear snakes, earthquakes, violence, famines, and more. There is fear of man, shame, pain, rejection, danger, and great loss. Fear dominates their lives.

However, amidst the chaos, God’s voice resounds loudly, shaking the foundations of the world. The unshakable Kingdom of God stands firm while this temporal and fallen world experiences upheaval. As we embrace the fear of the Lord, our other fears fade into the background. We must allow the calmness of Jesus to permeate our choices, leading us on the path of courage and peace.

Unfortunately, many fear man because they fear God so little. However, in this season, the fear of the Lord becomes a vital necessity for all God’s people. It empowers believers to arise as the victorious Bride of Christ, standing strong and courageous in the end times. As they walk in supernatural peace, believers will attract multitudes of sinners and the lost, finally living the supernatural life God intended.

Embracing the Fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is not about cowering in terror before a vengeful God. Rather, it is a reverential awe and respect for His divine nature and authority. It involves acknowledging His sovereignty and aligning our lives with His will.

When we cultivate a healthy fear of the Lord, our perspective shifts. We no longer fixate on the temporal fears of this world but instead embrace the eternal truths of God’s Kingdom. This fear liberates us from the chains of fear itself, enabling us to live victoriously and draw others to the transformative power of God.

Let us wholeheartedly embrace the fear of the Lord, allowing it to shape our choices, actions, and interactions. As we revere for God, we become vessels of supernatural peace, love, and courage, impacting the world around us. This is the life God has always intended for us, a life marked by His glory and empowered by His presence.
